We’re back with psych-rock band Mystic Peach for our next D2D Mixtape, a series where you get to know the bands on this years line up as they handpick a selection of tracks and talk us through their meaning. Delve in to their picks below.

Mystic Peach (obviously) – It’s Not Their Future
It’s part of our latest / debut EP. It’s kind of funny because this was a forgotten back burner for about two years, Jimi (drummer) mentioned how good of a song it was so we tried it again and we agreed it definitely had potential and was unfairly brushed under the rug.
A SONG THAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME AN ARTIST
The Who – Substitute
Can people actually answer this? Lol! A shot in the dark to be honest. It was really school of rock that made want to play guitar, but so many bands and artists influenced me to become an “artist”. But, I remember hearing that song in the film and I really loved it.
A SONG THAT GIVES YOU NOSTALGIA
Teen Mom – I Wanna Go Out
This song gives me an overwhelming sense of sadness that being young and obnoxious is such a short term of lifestyle. Leather jackets, rolled up ripped jeans and a Mr Men hat in groggy bars listening to the likes of Bass Drum of Death to The Wytches to Eagulls and drinking a bottle of Carlsberg and a rum and coke for £1.50. My manager and close friend Jamie showed me this song on a drunken event and always reminds me how innocent and irresponsible we were. Skint, high and stupid. Best time.
A SONG FROM THE BEST ARTIST YOU’VE SEEN LIVE
Yak – All I Need Is Some Sunshine In My Life
An unimaginably under-rated band that have been criminally forgotten about. Lovely people and an insane band, both recording and live with some incredible, incredible songs. I lost faith in the human race when these guys stopped making music.
A SONG THAT WOULD BE THE SOUNDTRACK TO A SERIES ABOUT YOUR LIFE
Nirvana – I Hate Myself And Want To Die
Not sure I have to really explain myself here…
Only joking, I feel like I am this dramatic when any slightly-inconvenient issue crops up in my seemingly slow lane lifestyle having an absolute blast staring into the abyss that is mid-air.
A SONG YOU WISH YOU HAD WRITTEN YOURSELF
Pixies – Where Is My Mind
Again, impossible to answer but just plucked this out in the air really. An absolute anthem and such a simple song with an unforgettable hook with one of the most relatable questions to human kind. If I manage to write a song half as good as that then my life is complete.
A SONG THAT GETS YOU IN THE MOOD FOR SUMMER
FIDLAR – Wake, Bake, Skate
An album from probably one of the best summers I ever had. My friends parents went off on holiday for 3 weeks so had their house to himself. Pretty much every day we were eating kfc, drinking, smoking and skating 12 hours a day. Think we might have even recorded a few songs there.

Just Mustard – Still
I’m an avid shoegaze fan and have been harassed by Joe, our bassist that these are a must-watch so really looking forward to the experience.

Erasure – A Little Respect
I’m not even going to explain myself. If you don’t like this song and we’re friends on Facebook or Myspace then you’re getting blocked, simple as that.
